Capita Insurance Services has appointed Matthew Briggs as chief executive officer of Capita Insurance Services and Mike Margetts as managing director of Capita’s commercial insurance (London market) business.
Margetts comes from Xchanging where he was the executive director of financial markets and a member of the company’s management board. In this role, he was responsible for Xchanging’s joint ventures in Germany with Deutsche Bank and Allianz Global Investors and the direction of Xchanging’s captive Indian processing operations. In previous roles he worked for Credit Suisse First Boston and Accenture.
In his new role, he will have responsibility for Capita’s commercial insurance and London market business, managing and developing relationships with key institutions and market bodies, including Lloyd’s, to grow the business and deliver significant quality improvements to the London market. Derek Henry, who has managed the business since the departure of Max Pell, will remain, reporting to Margetts.
Briggs joins Capita from Minster Law solicitors where he was CEO. He will assume responsibility for Capita Insurance Service’s business process outsourcing businesses, its claims and adjusting activities led by Richard Holland as managing director, and its broking arm, Capita Insurance Distribution which includes BDML, Lancaster, Hero and Thornside, led by Mark Townsend as managing director. Capita Absence Management Services, under Tony Page, will also report to Briggs.
The director of Capita’s Insurance and Investor Services division, Vic Gysin (to whom Briggs and Margetts will report) says: ‘These two key appointments will allow us to deliver long term and sustainable strategic successes and underlines Capita’s commitment to the insurance industry.’ The appointments are subject to FSA approval.
